21st April 2020 - Our Chairman, Graham Newman writes -
I trust this message finds you in good health, unaffected by the current coronavirus pandemic. You will find a copy of the latest edition of "The Traveller" together with FTW's Annual Report for 2019 from our website.
Normally these would have been delivered in hard copy to your home address. But our distribution arrangements have had to change for this edition as several of our hand-delivery volunteers are in lock-down due to their age or health conditions. Therefore, all Members for whom we have an e-mail address will receive these documents by e-mail and only those for whom we don't have an email address will receive paper copies.
The Annual Report will be discussed at a future date when we can hold an Annual General Meeting and paper copies of the report will be available at that meeting.
Until we can all meet up again, please take care and stay safe and enjoy the read.
All good wishes
Graham Newman - Chairman FTW. .
CORONAVIRUS - Writing these words in mid-May 2020, we very reluctantly have to say that the 2020 Tours programme has been almost entirely cancelled due to the impact of the COVID-19 virus. A decision will be made about Tours 8, 9 and 10 as soon as possible. Please look at our website page Tours for more information.
This is in line with FTW committee and members following HMG and NHS advice not to expose yourselves to needless risk of person to person contact and not to make unnecessary journeys.
A.G.M. arranged for 12th May 2020 - POSTPONED - new date to be agreed
* The first few images of the new Greater Anglia Class 755 train were taken on the night of 26th September on the first ever test run of a new Class 755 train at Felixstowe and Trimley stations. [Thanks to Bryan Frost and Cllr Andy Smith for permission to use them] and the later two taken on 19th November when they were in use virtually all day [Photos by R. Holland]. Other photos are of the "Welcome to Felixstowe" platform sign - an initiative from the East Suffolk Lines Community Rail Partnership - Line Group East, the Mayor of Felixstowe at the official unveiling of Level 2's new station mural, and two photos of the Felixstowe station forecourt with the flower tubs planted by Felixstowe Town Council's gardeners and sponsored by Felixstowe Travel Watch.
